Canada Water Fire Segregation
Barrier
To enable East London Line upgrade works at Canada Water
Station, Tube Lines Ltd and London Underground identified a
requirement to segregate works from ongoing Jubilee Line
passenger services. The Jubilee Line service was to remain
fully operational as a Section 12 LU station during the works.
Fire separation, smoke control, emergency routes, and access
for asset maintenance were to be modified without compromise
to achieve a fully compliant and safe system for the duration
of the works.
Deltaline Engineers designed and obtained assurance for a
scope and standard compliant segregation barrier system
ensuring that Jubilee Line passengers were protected and
isolated from the ELL works by a 100 m² one-hour fire rated
protective hoarding. The hoarding was designed to resist
impact and be capable of withstanding expected loads due to
passing train pressure, potential passenger overcrowding and
be sufficiently robust to endure the extended duration of use.
Deltaline prepared a full set of assurance and construction
documentation which was approved bu LU to programme and works
started on site as planned.
